4th March 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
Return to school 8th March
Attendance at School
Following the announcement by the Department of Education we are, from the week commencing 8th March, welcoming back our children to Conway Primary School. We will be following the guidance from the Department of Education and Birmingham City Council. The health and safety of our children and staff are paramount and will plan carefully to re-open the school safely.
From the 8th March, all primary pupils are expected to attend school.
We understand some families will be feeling worried about children returning to school; however, it is important that all children return to daily face to face teaching with their class teachers as well as time to develop their social and emotional skills with their friends.
For children who are feeling anxious or are worried about returning to school, we are here to help and support children and families return to school. Please contact school and discuss with the inclusion team or the office to discuss any concerns. (0121-675-0622)
You must report your child’s absence unless they are part of a class bubble that has been sent home from school to self-isolate.
The easiest way for you to report absence is to contact the school office: 0121 675 0622.
All absence must be reported by 8.30 a.m. for every day of the absence. This is so that we can make sure our registers are accurate. Please remember that if your child is unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea, they must stay at home for at least 48 hours.
A reminder that routine medical appointments should not be booked for during the school day. Please arrange these for before/ after school where possible.
Now the government have stated education is compulsory. Parents/ carers must make sure that their child attends school every day. It is the school’s responsibility to record attendance and follow up absence. Going forward this includes following up persistent absence and if the absence continues, on the behalf of the Local Authority, issue sanctions including fixed penalty notices in line with the local authority’s guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/school-attendance-absence/legal-action-to-enforce-schoolattendance
All Conway staff will continue to work with families who are concerned so that all children return to school full-time from the 8th March 2021. Thank you for helping us ensure our children have a safe and happy return to the classroom.
