Home Learning for children who attend The Hive
Following on from Ms Yasmin’s home learning letter on Friday last week, I am writing to give you further details about the home learning your child will be receiving if they attend The Hive at school.
We recognise that some of the activities suggested for the rest of the school might not meet the specific learning needs that your child has. We want to provide you with more personalised learning activities to help you support your child’s individual learning targets whilst they are at home.
Miss Penhallow and Mrs Mehreen will be providing learning activities for you to carry out with your child. These will be emailed to you each week through The Hive email (further details about this will follow later this week).
We are ordering 2 story books for your child to read and keep at home. Miss Penhallow will tell you which book you need to focus on with your child each week and provide learning activities linked to that book. Please can you read that book to/with your child (daily if possible) to support them with their learning.
The Hive has had an email account set up so you can share pictures of your child’s home learning with Miss Penhallow and Mrs Mehreen, as well as ask for any advice or support with your child’s learning.
The home learning pages will be fully set up from next. For the remainder of this week, please have a look through the websites that have been put up. They contain activities and links to other webpages which have some lovely activities for children with special educational needs.
If you need any further support with supporting your child’s learning at home please visit our Parent advice page ‘SEND Pupil Resources- COVID-19’. There are guidance documents for you in supporting home learning as well as some useful resources to help explain COVID-19 if your child is confused by the current situation. There are also some excellent links to free agency parent support advice lines.
Miss Penhallow and Mrs Mehreen will be making phone calls to speak to yourselves and the children from next week.
Many thanks for your ongoing support.
