Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope that this letter finds you and your families well.
I want to wish our Muslim families Ramadan Mubarak. As I am sure you are aware, the Holy Month of Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar and is a period of prayer, self-control, charity and goodwill to others. For our Muslim and non-Muslim community, this is an excellent opportunity for them to think about self-discipline and consideration of other people in these very difficult times.
I want you to know how much we are all missing the children and our extended Conway family. The school feels very sad and lonely. I look forward to the day when we can all be together again.
I know that the children have been working hard on the work set prior to school closing and will be desperate for more! So I will now set out some guidance and how you can access more work.
Guidance to pupils:
Make sure you get enough sleep and have a regular bedtime routine. I know it will be challenging during the month of Ramadan.
How much Sleep do you need for Good Health?
Age | Sleep hours per night |
Newborns (1 to 2 Months) | 14 to 18 Hours |
Infants (3 to 11 months) | 13 to 16 hours |
Toddlers (1 to 3 years) | 12 to 14 months |
Preschoolers (3 to 5 years) | 11 to 13 hours |
Children (5 to 12 years) | 10 to 11 hours |
Teens (13 to 17 years) | 9 to 10 hours |
Adults (18 and up) | 7 to 9 hours |
Are you having enough sleep?
School Work
The work we are setting can all be found online. You can use a smart phone (like an iphone), a tablet (like an ipad), a chrome book, a laptop or a PC.
The children will need basic stationary – pen, pencil, ruler, rubber and some paper.
They will also need somewhere quiet enough for them to hear the video clips or use headphones.
Children also need to read every day. If your children have finished the books they were reading you can log on to https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/ and register to access hundreds of books. These are the same books we would normally use at school.
Also on the school website under Year Group Pages – Home Learning COVID-19 teachers will upload other work and websites for the children to access next week.
We will also be sending out home projects next week.
Finally, teachers and support staff will be making regular calls to all children starting next week to see how they are getting on with their work and how they are feeling.
I will be writing to you on a weekly basis.
I hope that you and your families remain well throughout this pandemic.
With best wishes,
Tania Yasmin
