Useful websites

Geography - The Galapagos

Pupils will use maps and atlases to locate the Galapagos Islands, learning that they are in the Pacific Ocean. Pupils will study the human and physical geography of the area and find out what makes the islands unique. Furthermore, pupils will study the challenges that small islands can face too.

Science - Animal Classification:

In Science, pupils will build on their learning about grouping living things from year 4 by looking at the classification system in more detail. They will learn that broad groupings, such as micro-organisms, plants and animals can be subdivided. Through direct observations they will classify animals into commonly found invertebrates (such as insects, spiders, snails, worms) and vertebrates (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals). Pupils will study Carl Linnaeus, a pioneer of classification.
